Surgical Research and EducationThe Tobin family has provided funds for the establishment of the West Texas Foundation for Surgical Research and Education, an educational foundation, to promote education and training in the field of cosmetic surgery, and to assist special deserving patients who have demonstrated need without the means to pay the normal costs of surgery. Funds from the foundation will also be used to help offset the expenses of educational seminars which are conducted at the Center as well as to assist in supporting surgeons who come to the to the Center for post graduate training in cosmetic surgery. The Foundation has already participated in clinical studies including and evaluation of a comparison between laser and conventional cosmetic surgery, a study evluated results and patient acceptance of breast reduction surgery and a study evaluating a comparison between laser and chemical skin resurfacing. Each year, a post graduate clinical Fellow is selected from a large number of applicants. Fellows spend a year training under Dr. Tobin as well as participating in patient care and research. They receive a stipend from the Foundation to assist them with their living costs during their year of training. Education has always been an important objective of the Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgical Center, and we are proud to announce the formation of the foundation to assist us in this goal.
